Jean Ann Crawford

Jean passed peacefully, with family and friends by her side, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease on September 13, 2025 at Humber River Hospital. She is survived by her children Dan Crawford (Lauren Hunter), Melissa Chandler, nee Crawford (Matthew Chandler), her grandchildren Aidan Chandler, Ethan Chandler, Felix Crawford. She is also survived by her siblings Ed Cooper, Betty Compeer, and was loved dearly by her beloved niece Catherine Lyle and cousin Joanne Lundy. Jean is pre-deceased and has gone to rest with her parents, Edgar and Grace Cooper.

Jean will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother and Aunt, an exceptional friend to so many, a strong woman with a fierce eye for art, design, and appreciation for the fine arts. She was an expert and leader in the non-profit sector and a mentor to many. She was intensely curious about a great many things and moved in fascinating circles of the most interesting people. She showed resilience through every hardship, always demonstrating acceptance, never judgement, always honest and supportive. She had wonderful advice and a passion for ‘connecting’ people. She was loved and will be missed by many.

The family would like to express deep thanks to all of Jean’s friends who have loved and cared for her, the staff at Humber Heights Retirement Village, Humber River Hospital and the team at Meliora Care for their compassion and kindness.

A private service will be held by the family, with a larger celebration of life to be planned with details to be confirmed.

I will miss my friend Jean. She was a dear soul who cared for those in her life with interest and love. Her many friends returned her caring with concern for her well-being over these past few years.
To her family I send sincere condolences,
Jean was wonderfully one of a kind and will be remembered for what she gave to each of us.

  2. Jean, I feel so incredibly lucky to have known you and so grateful to you for your love, your guidance, and your joy for life. I will hold you forever in my present, not just my past, every time I look at a painting or stand in front of a gorgeous store window or sit down to puzzle out a challenge with my career. I will miss your teary-eyed hugs and going to see art with you. I will miss our visits and feeling the energy and love you filled every room with. Love you forever, Jean.
